There never seems to be a shortage of green tomatoes in the garden, so why not take advantage of their abundance and transform them into this Fried Green Tomatoes with Alabama White Sauce recipe. Fresh tomatoes always taste better when battered and fried but somehow still seem pretty darn healthy. Since this easy tomato snack recipe also calls for cornmeal, buttermilk, and canola oil, it's about as wholesome as old-fashioned, Southern cooking gets. The Alabama white sauce with Dijon mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic, mayo, and horseradish is so deliciously peppy and tangy, you'll want to make extra for other veggie dipping and salads.

I was born and raised in South Georgia but have always preferred my tomatoes ripe. My mom was always frying green tomatoes, just never cared for them.
