Classic Dump Cake Vs. Dump Cake From Scratch

Classic dump cake recipes are made with a layer of filling (fresh fruit, pie filling, or even a pecan pie-like filling) that is topped with dry cake mix and pats of butter. As the dessert bakes in the oven, the butter melts and turns the cake into a soft, cobbler-like topping. They are perfect for last-minute entertaining or when a dessert craving hits.

An alternative to classic dump cake recipes is the dump cake from scratch. While these homemade desserts can be made using a variety of different techniques, the main difference is the cake mix. Rather than boxed cake mix, these recipes use a dry mix of flour, sugar, and sometimes baking powder and salt. The advantage of these scratch-made recipes is that you know exactly what is in them. However, they take longer to prepare than classic dump cakes.

Ice cold peaches, then cherries, then strawberries and then watermelon

My favorite fruit starts with strawberries, cherries, then moves to black plums, then champagne grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, santa Claus melons, cassava melons, Juan canary melons, some years depending on the crop peaches, nectarines, and then apples, etc.

Fresh ripe peaches warm from the tree and dripping with juice. I never get them, however, so of what is usually available, I have to choose black raspberries over shortcake, under vanilla ice cream!

my favorite fruit is strawberries and fresh ripe peaches!!

Cherries and Watermelon are my favorites

All of the berries.

I love grapes it just seems like summer grapes taste better and juicier

I'd have to say mixed fruit as I most often make fruit salad with apples, grapes, pineapple, strawberries, and bananas during the summer. I toss them in a honey-poppy seed dressing and yummy!

Strawberries

I love all fruits but I'd have to say watermelon in the summer because that is when it's the tastiest

This year I grew my own cantaloupe so I will have to say it is my favorite summer fruit (at least for this year anyway!).

Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit! Peaches run a close second.

mangos are yummy

My favorite summer fruit is watermelon.

Watermelon and raspberries

I can not wait to try this peach cobbler , peaches are my families favorite fruit

Strawberries are my favorite.

Rhubarb! I love strawberry rhubarb pie, but just stewed rhubarb is lovely.

My favorite fruit (not just in summer) has to be peaches!! I can't get enough of them.

Favorite fruits in summer are peaches and blueberries. Awesome when combined. This recipe works well when combining them.

my favorite summer fruit is definitely peaches!

my favorite summer fruits are the black rapberries from our garden. This cobbler recipe would work with them as a peach melba!

Strawberries always win for me. My mouth waters just from thinking about them.

My favorite is cold watermelon

plulots a combo of plums and apricots

I love most summer fruit but peaches is the one I would pick first

I love refreshing fruits you can ONLY find in the summertime

My favorite fruit to eat in the summer is watermelon, because it's perfect for summer - cool, sweet and easy to eat.

Good, yummy. moist, very nice warm with a big plop of whipped cream. Also good if you substitute a little brown sugar on the top with some chopped pecans. Heavenly with a drizzle of warm peach brandy sauce. Also good with apricots.

My roommate makes this for me all the time. So delicious!

I don't love the taste of canned peaches, so I may substitute freshly cut peaches instead. The picture looks amazing!

This looks soooo good!
