Grilled Peaches with Toasted Pecans Ice Cream

"This is the perfect dessert for fresh peach season. You could certainly make it using canned peaches, but there is nothing like a fresh, Southern peach. We made it as part of a "totally grilled" meal and it kept us out of the kitchen. Our family makes cane syrup every New Years and that's what we used, but you could easily substitute another syrup or honey or even molasses. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!"

Makes8 Peach Halves

  • 4 Peaches, halved
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons syrup
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped & toasted
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  1. Cut peaches in half and rub cut side with softened butter

  2. Place cut side down on hot grill and cook 5-10 minutes or until grill marks form

  3. Flip peaches and move to indirect heat

  4. Sprinkle each peach half with about 1 Tbsp. of the sugar mixture. (sugar, cinnamon and syrup)

  5. Continue cooking over indirect heat about 15 minutes or until sugar mixture is bubbly and loses its graininess.

  6. Remove from grill and top with toasted pecans and serve with vanilla ice cream
