The Origin of the Kentucky Hot Brown

At first glance, this is simply an open-faced turkey sandwich, but the historic Kentucky Hot Brown dates back to the 1920s. This special sandwich was invented at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. At the famed Brown Hotel, nightly dinner dances were hosted by the hotel. These dances brought in thousands of guests each night and all of that dancing made guests work up an appetite! To spice up the menu, the chef developed this special open-faced sandwich and a legend was born. Nowadays, Kentucky is known for this special sandwich. While there are many variations of this classic Southern recipe, the most authentic version of the Kentucky Hot Brown is still served at the Brown Hotel.
Even if you can't make the trip to Louisville, you can still sample a piece of Southern history in your own kitchen. Take a journey back in time with this amazingly delicious Kentucky Hot Brown recipe. You'll want to dance the night away after sampling this Kentucky gem of a recipe.
