These Cheese Pinwheels with Mayhaw Jelly offer a new twist on the classic Southern cheese straw recipe. Shredded Cheddar cheese is combined with flour and softened butter to create a stiff dough. After the dough has been refrigerated, it is rolled out and covered with a thin layer of Southern Mayhaw jelly. If you do not have Mayhaw jelly on hand, you could easily substitute apple jelly. The pinwheels are rolled up with pecans, sliced, and baked for fifteen minutes until golden.
