Jackie Garvin's Southern roots run deep. As a seventh generation Alabamian, she has the blessing of an authentic Southern upbringing. Her love for all things Southern are chronicled in her blog, Syrup and Biscuits, where she shares recipes, food memories and stories about the South of yesterday and today.
After a successful career as a Registered Nurse, Corporate executive and Entrepreneur, Jackie sold her healthcare business in 2008 and hung up her ballet slippers. In retirement, she vowed to get deeply involved with some of the things she loved the most: gardening, cooking, feeding folks and writing about gardening, cooking and feeding folks. Her blog was launched in 2011 as the platform for this endeavor. Since that time, she has developed a large following of her blog as well as her social media outlets.
She was awarded a Blue Ribbon by Just A Pinch Recipe Club for her Blackberry Cobbler and was a second place winner in the International Biscuit Fest 2014. Her recipes have been featured in print publications such as Taste of the South and Mobile Bay Magazine.
